Update: Disturbed

Chart-topping hard rock band Disturbed are currently in Chicago recording their fourth album, the follow-up to 2005’s RIAA-certified platinum Ten Thousand Fists. The band, which is vocalist David Draiman, guitarist Dan Donegan, drummer Mike Wengren, and bassist John Moyer, have chosen to produce the album themselves. The as-yet-untitled CD will be released by Reprise Records in Spring 2008.
Draiman offers that the forthcoming album “seems to have taken on a darker character than the previous albums. It’s more furiously paced and complex.” He continues, “Producing the record ourselves has been a learning experience that will serve the record well.”

Known for their punishingly powerful music and Draiman’s passionate, socially conscious lyrics, Disturbed have sold a collective 9 million copies worldwide of their three albums — 2000’s triple-platinum The Sickness, 2002’s Billboard album chart-topper Believe, and their second consecutive Number One Ten Thousand Fists — since forming in Chicago in 1996. The latter disc spawned five radio singles, including the Active Rock Number One’s “Stricken” and “Land of Confusion,” which was accompanied by an animated video by cult hero, Spawn creator Todd McFarlane.
Last year, Disturbed headlined both Ozzfest and their own Music As A Weapon III Tour. A new song, “This Moment,” was released in July on the soundtrack to this summer’s smash hit robot fantasy-film Transformers.
