Suicide Silence Makes Stunning Billboard Top 200 Debut; Banned By Mtv
SUICIDE SILENCE made a huge statement to the metal world this past week as their highly acclaimed debut offering, The Cleansing, entered the Billboard Top 200 chart at #94, which marks the highest debut ever for a new Century Media artist. After being hyped by many critics and fans as the genre’s next big thing, the group are finally able to prove to everyone just how truly devastating they are with their savage, uncompromising and unrelenting new album. The Cleansing is a scathing blast of sheer aggression and intensity that is bound to send shockwaves throughout the scene.
SUICIDE SILENCE is definitely not for the weak of heart, which was further proven as MTV has officially banned their graphic new video for the track “The Price of Beauty” deeming it too lyrically and visually explicit. Acclaimed director Matt Bass (The Esoteric, Black Dahlia Murder) created an intense video that matches the band’s unabashed energy, which ultimately resulted in a brutal portrait that some might feel it too “vivid” for national television. Mitch Lucker (vocals) states: “It felt fucking amazing to have the Billboard news broken to us! It also felt great knowing that all of the non-stop touring and going fucking nuts every night on stage had such a positive effect on our first week sales. It definitely was not handed to us. We worked our asses off for it and will continue to do so because it’s what we love you do. Without our fans we would not be anywhere and SUICIDE SILENCE loves all of you! We are going to be on tour for a very long time supporting this disc, so make sure you come out to a show and headbang with us. We hope to see you all soon.”
Hot Topic is currently selling a special version of the album, which features a bonus disc with six live videos and an exclusive track. This edition can only be found at Hot Topic stores and is specially priced at for $7.99 only for a month, so get you copy while supplies last.
SUICIDE SILENCE are currently on the road with Unearth, Darkest Hour and August Burns Red for a month-long U.S. trek, which immediately follows their highly successful headlining run with Despised Icon, Winds of Plague and See You Next Tuesday. See below or visit their (www.myspace.com/suicidesilence) for their current tour itinerary.
SUICIDE SILENCE adheres to no preconceived notions and refuses to be pigeonholed into any specific genre. The juxtaposition of each member’s talents creates an explosive yet exciting result that is sure to keep the entire scene on their toes. Expect the boundaries of conventionality to be shattered in 2007 with this dynamic debut release.
“Mating old-school death metal’s basic principles with tones of today’s fashionable extreme scene, this unit unleashes a relentless assault on the senses.”
